Backstory

Sasol is an international integrated chemicals and energy company that leverages technologies and the expertise of 30 300 people working in 33 countries.

Sasol’s new value chain-based operating model came into effect in 2014. To this end, the Sasol Group is now organised into two upstream business units, three regional operating hubs, and four customer-facing strategic business units, supported by fit-for-purpose functions.

Sasol was established in 1950 in South Africa and they remain one of the country’s largest investors in capital projects, skills development and technological research and development. The company is listed on the JSE in South Africa and on the New York Stock Exchange in the United States.

The Goal

To create an event experience that leaves people with meaningful connections.

To align employees with the Sasol One Identity Pledge, they were looking for a digital solution for their internal event that would provide employees with all the event info, enable networking between attendees and gain real-time feedback by engaging with a live Q&A session.

The Solution

Flock provided the event app for the internal Sasol One Identity event so employees were able to access the schedule and take part in the PLEDGE which then rewarded employees with a gift at the end of the event.

The social timeline came alive with photos, messages, likes, and comments from Sasol members before the event started. Attendees introduced themselves on the timeline, posted photos of their event experiences and started interacting with likes and comments.

Once the event started, people shared content with insights into session materials, started discussions, and continued to interact throughout the event.

The speakers engaged with the attendees with a live Q&A session, this feature exceeded the client’s expectations.
