Flock Eventing Platform had the privilege of assisting MTN in hosting their 9th annual MTN Mobile App Awards which took place on the 29th of October 2020.

The awards looked somewhat different this year, as the ceremony was entirely virtual due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety precautions. However, the event was still a huge success and was executed seamlessly and efficiently with the help of Flock Eventing Platform’s Mobile App.

“2020 marked the sixth consecutive year that Flock was part of the MTN App awards. It has been an interesting year for the event industry and saw us take a slightly different approach to this year’s ceremony as the entire event was virtual compared to previous ceremonies where only certain elements were virtual,” says Mike Lysko, founder and CEO of the Flock Eventing Platform.

The MTN App Awards celebrates homegrown talent by acknowledging cutting-edge and out-of-the-box thinkers who develop innovative mobile apps in any given field. This year, EasyEquities stole the show by taking the lead in 15 award categories. EasyEquities is an online platform that allows anyone to purchase shares in leading brands and companies, making it easier for existing and first-time investors to stay on top of their investment portfolios. Other stand-out winners included CheckersSixty60 for Best Enterprise Solution, Lexie Hearing for Best Health Solution and Green Fingers for Best Agricultural Solution.

Flock Eventing Platform’s Mobile App helps MTN better communicate and engage with their nominees, sponsors and guests — even in the virtual world. The mobile app allowed guests to access all the event schedules and materials before the start of the event. Guests could also interact with and post to the social media channels while the event was happening, which increased engagement and conversations on multiple platforms. The mobile app also collates data that’s available to download once the event is finished, and this helps MTN plan for future events, based on their guest’s preferences and behaviour on the Mobile App.

“Flock’s Live Streaming virtual event function meant guests could be part of the action, as they received information and updates in real-time, which — for an awards ceremony — is especially important for attendees experience and brand sentiment,” concludes Lysko.

With Flock’s Mobile App, virtual award ceremonies can be as exciting as in-person events, just a whole lot safer.
