INDABA is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and one of the top three ‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar.
It showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products and attracts international buyers and media from across the world. INDABA is owned by South African Tourism and has won the awards for Africa’s best travel and tourism show. This award was presented by the Association of World Travel Awards.INDABA brings together a showcase of Southern African tourism products and services for the international travel trade. Exhibitors in the DEC (Durban Exhibition Centre) includes, provincial authorities, provincial products and African Countries. In the ICC (International Convention Centre), exhibitor categories include accommodation, tour operators, game lodges, transport, online travel, media publications and industry associations. Outdoor exhibitors include transport, camping and safari companies.INDABA has a dedicated following of local and international media who provide extensive coverage of the exhibition for the local and international markets through radio, television, newspaper and dedicated travel publications.
Flock provided the event app, but the magic happened when attendees began to download the app for the INDABA.
The social timeline came alive with photos, messages, likes, and comments from members of the INDABA days before the event started. Attendees introduced themselves on the timeline, posted photos of their travel experiences, and started interacting with likes and comments.Once the event started, people shared content with insights into session materials, started discussions, and continued to interact throughout the event.In addition to the engagement amongst attendees, the app was used to locate exhibitors, bookmark their favourite ones and use the map to navigate around the venue.

Once the event came to a close, the Flock team were able to provide INDABA with the event break down and analytics.
This was useful to INDBA as they can see how the attendees and exhibitors benefitted from the event app as well as the interaction that took place within each element of the app.The reports helped them to better understand their attendee trends and plan accordingly for their next event.
